What Every Couple Should Know Before Stepping in Front of My Lens

After years of capturing "I do's" across Jamaica, I’ve learned that some of the best wedding photography tips aren’t in glossy magazines or Pinterest mood boards. They come from real, BTS moments-the good, the unpredictable, and the downright hilarious.

So here’s my honest, slightly cheeky advice to help you get the most out of your wedding photos. Whether you're planning a barefoot beach ceremony or a full blown party with a conga line, I’ve got your back.

1. Trust the Timeline (And Your Photographer!)

I help all my couples build a schedule that makes sense because, let's be real, if hair and makeup run late... guess what gets squeezed? Yep, photo time.  The point is that you plan your wedding in Jamaica to get beautiful daylight photos , and if we want that dreamy golden hour glow, we’ve got to plan ahead.

Trust me to help you carve out breathing room in your day. I’ll keep things calm, on track, and make sure you still get those beautiful shots.

2. Don’t Skip the Getting Ready Chaos (I Mean, Moments)

Those pre-ceremony hours are like a mini sitcom, full of nerves, laughter, champagne corks flying, and someone asking where their underwear are. I live for that energy!

Also, give me 15–20 minutes to capture your rings, dress, shoes, invites, and any personal details. These little things tell a big story, and they deserve their moment in the spotlight too.

3. First Looks Aren’t Just a Trend, They’re a Sanity Saver

You don’t have to do a First Look... but wow, they’re kind of magic. It’s your chance to see each other, breathe, laugh, cry, hug, and maybe even practice your vows before the ceremony frenzy begins.

Plus, we get more time for photos earlier in the day-when your makeup is still slaying and nobody's crying off their lashes yet.

4. Be in the Moment, Not in Your Head

You don’t need to know what to do with your hands. That’s my job. I’ll gently guide you when needed, and the rest? I let it unfold naturally.

The best shots? They’re the ones where you're laughing, sneaking a forehead kiss, or dancing like nobody’s watching (except me, but I’m cool like that).

5. Bonus Tip: Build in Time to Just... Breathe

Schedule a few pauses in your day. Step away after the ceremony. Hide out before the reception. These in-between moments are quiet gold. I’ll be there, camera in hand, capturing you just being together-no posing, no pressure.

Final Thoughts:

Wedding photography isn’t about being perfect.  It’s about being present. So let your dress get sandy, let your emotions fly, and let me worry about catching the light and your best angles.
